The first annual New Hamburg Live! Festival of the Arts, May 20-24, was so successful that organizers have immediately begun plans for the 2010 edition of the Festival. Executive director Paul Knowles says the dates for year two have been set as June 2-6, 2010.
The New Hamburg Live! Festival was considered a success by organizers who are already planning for next year. “It was quite a good run,” said organizer Nancy Knowles, who said over 1400 tickets were sold for the various performances.
Half-way through the first annual New Hamburg Live! Festival of the Arts, it is clear that this ambitious venture will be a marked success. Attendance at the first several events have exceeded expectations, with the opening Lights of Broadway Gala drawing 150, and both the ongoing Art Show and the concert by multiple Juno-winner David Francey attracting three-figure audiences.

Three-time Juno award winning singer/songwriter David Francey will perform this Thursday at the New Hamburg Community Centre as part of the New Hamburg Live! festival of the arts.
His musical interpretation of real life characters and the stories they tell is what’s garnered Francey a loyal following in the international folk music scene in the decade since he left his career in construction to record his first album, Torn ScreenDoor in 1999.
